Further information

What is a pet?… Talk about how to care for a pet. What do they eat for food? Some pets need exercise, and dogs like Wilbur need to go for a walk every day. All pets need water to drink and a place to sleep. What else does a pet need? Some animals need to be treated with care so that everyone is safe – so talk about pet safety too.

Use playdough to make Wilbur or another animal. Press different objects (plastic fork, spoon, cookie cutters, etc) to make patterns. Talk about the patterns you are making and how you are making them.

Enjoy these other books: Harry the Dirty Dog by Gene Zion and Margaret Bloy Graham, and Clementine’s Walk by Annie White.
