Further information
Babies need lots of one-on-one interactions with caring adults to help support healthy brain development.
Sharing stories and singing songs are two perfect activities you can share with your baby.

Sing songs in the car, at the park, in the bath, during nappy change or at bed time. Babies and young children respond well to routine and by singing songs over and over it won’t be long before they are joining in!

Singing songs is a perfect activity to share with babies. Make sure to sit or stand so that your baby can see your face while singing. This lets babies watch your expression, helping them to mimic your expressions. Making eye contact with your baby helps to keep them engaged and lets them know they are special, one-on-one interactions helps to create positive feelings within your baby.

When you sing songs with actions babies are taking in a much richer experience, they are listening to your voice, watching the actions and feeling touch when you help them to join in actions, eg. Clap their hands.
