Baby Touch and Feel Things That Go Activity Time

Resource type:
Activity Time

By DK Books

Brum, brum, beep, beep! There goes a shiny blue car. This book has exciting elements on every page for babies to look at and to touch and feel. Snuggle up with your baby and enjoy exploring the different ways that cars, trains, tugboats or hot air balloons move.

Ribbon Play

You will need:

  • Ribbons
  • Cardboard box, for example, an empty tissue box.

What to do:

  1. Push holes into the sides of the tissue box.
  2. Cut up different lengths of ribbon
  3. Thread the ribbon through the holes and tie a large knot at either end
  4. Show your baby how to pull the ribbon through the holes and play!

More ideas

Simple games where babies can explore and practise movements over and over help them to become confident learners. Play games that look at how
things move, some ideas include:

  • driving toy cars back and forth
  • rolling a ball gently back and forth
  • tossing a balloon up into the air
  • blowing bubbles and watching how they move.

Have fun with sounds – make the sounds of the different things that go from this story. Choo-choo! goes the train, honk-honk! goes the tugboat.

Songs to sing

Row, Row, Row Your Boat, The Wheels on the Bus and The Grand Old Duke of York.
