Baby Business Activity Time

Baby Business by Jasmine Seymour
Baby Business tells the story of the baby smoking ceremony that welcomes baby to country. The smoke is a blessing – it will protect the baby and remind them that they belong.
This beautiful ritual is recounted in a way young children will completely relate to.
Family Traditions
Talking and sharing time together is a great way to build strong connections as a family. It also begins to involve your baby in their culture and heritage.
There are many ways of welcoming a new baby or child including baptisms, christenings or naming days. How are newborns welcomed in your culture, or in your family? Have you created any new traditions of your own?
Talk with your baby about where their name comes from. Do they have a name that has been handed down through generations, or do they have a new name? Talk to your baby about why they have their name.
Talk with your baby about your family and special celebrations or ceremonies to welcome new babies or family members. You can describe what happens at the celebration, and how your family may have special cultural traditions such as rituals, songs, specific food or cake, decorations, games or clothes. Describe to your baby how important it is spending this time together with family and people we love.
Songs to sing
