Helga Visser

Helga Visser, studied at East Sydney Art School, Australia, and with artist/sculptor Arthur Murch, where she was studio assistant for some years. During this time she assisted with the mural painting at the Overseas Terminal, Circular Quay, Sydney.
She has worked as commercial artist in Australia, Indonesia, Holland and Hong Kong and is now retired from commercial work to concentrate on art that she loves.

Helga works mainly in oil paint and pastels and uses clay for sculptures. The area of the Mid-North Coast, where she now lives inspires much of her work, but nature, light and patterns have always been a fascination.

Published 2 books of humorous illustrations of Hong Kong life which were on the South China Morning Post’s bestseller list for several months.

A children’s picture book, "The Bush Concert" was published in 2011 by Omnibus Books, an imprint of Scholastic.
Some achievements: Solo exhibitions and with other artists. Won the major prize in the Great Lakes Art Society’s Open Competition (2002, 2004), Taree Open Art Exhibition (2003, 2005, 2007), Pacific Palms Art Festival (2005) and finalist in the Country Energy Landscape Competition (2004). Her work is in private collections in Europe, Asia and Australia.
