2012 FREE Reading Pack for SA babies
Free Reading Pack gives SA babies the best start in life.
Every new baby born in South Australia in 2012 will be given the best start in life thanks to the Little Big Book Club’s It’s Story Time Reading Pack initiative.
The Little Big Book Club aims to support parents, carers and the early childhood sector to regularly share books with children from infancy. Early childhood providers and practitioners have known for some years that children need to be introduced to books and reading at the earliest possible age, well before they start school.

The Little Big Book Club’s It’s Story Time Reading Pack and related Monthly Selections program is an important step in encouraging the next generation of young readers and providing children with a strong foundation for lifelong literacy, success in formal schooling and improved life chances.
It is estimated that 20,000 babies will be born in South Australia in 2012; with each family with a child aged 0-12 months eligible to receive the free It’s Story Time Reading Pack. Parents and/or carers can collect their reading pack from SA Public Libraries, Child & Family Health Centres (CaFHS) and selected outreach centres.
Developed in consultation with early childhood professionals, the 2012 It’s Story Time free Reading Pack includes the following items:
- It’s Play Time picture book
- It’s Play Time activity book
- It’s Story Time growth chart
- It’s Story Time brochure

- It’s Rhyme Time DVD and book

- Babies Love Playgroup Too brochure

The It’s Story Time Reading Pack is The Little Big Book Club’s first engagement point with parents and carers. The ongoing development of young children’s literacy skills is further encouraged through The Little Big Book Club’s Monthly Book Selections program for 0-5 year olds which features age appropriate tried and loved books as well as activity time and learning time sheets which are free to download from The Little Big Book Club’s website each month.
The Little Big Book Club would like to acknowledge the support of its partners which include
